After the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Fulham, Manchester United were not in a position to drop any more points in order to finish in the top four. They already trailed Liverpool by a massive nine points with 13 matches left in the campaign. The situation got worse for David Moyes after United fell 13 points behind their arch rivals following a 0-0 draw with Arsenal. Liverpool, meanwhile, managed to win their game against Fulham 3-2 with a lastgasp penalty from Steven Gerrard. As a result, there is a danger of United missing out on the Champions league football for the first time in more than two decades.

This could have serious implications of the finances of the club, but manager David Moyes is still hoping that the club finish in the top four. Despite falling 13 points behind their main rivals, he thinks that the club can claw back the deficit in the remaining 12 matches of the season. United have been poor since the start of the season, but their record in 2014 has just got worse with this draw. Moyes has recalled that United have always been great in the second half of the season, while he is now set to focus only on United’s games and not look at the opponents.

“If there is one club who have been great at winning games in the second half of the season, and putting pressure on the teams above, it is Manchester United. We will continue to do that and try to make it work. We can only do our job the best we can. We want to make it better and we can’t bother about other teams. All we can do is try to win our next game,” said Moyes, whose team has just one win in the last five matches.
