Former Crystal Palace star Neil Shipperley believes the Eagles would be doing fair business with the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United this summer. The England youth international only made his first-team debut for the Eagles last year but he has made a good impression in the Premier League to attract big-club interest.

Among those, United have been deemed favourites to seal a transfer agreement for around £50m and Shipperley believes the Eagles should sanction the move, he said: “I think it’s good business for a right-back that has made 42 appearances. It’s a great deal for the club. This is football at the moment. There’s not a bidding war for him. Manchester United are the club. No-one else is coming in for him so you’re not going to have this bidding war. I think £50m or £55m is a fair deal.”

United are understood to have already agreed provisional personal terms with the right-back but they have yet to settle on a transfer sum with the Eagles. Nonetheless, the same is expected to happen during the next few days and a transfer could be announced when Wan-Bissaka returns from international duty with the Young Lions.

United have made just the single signing during this summer’s transfer window with winger Daniel James arriving from Championship side Swansea City. The club have been renowned for spending big sums for marquee players in the past but they seem to have changed the focus towards young British talents, who can stay put for the long term.

Aside from Wan-Bissaka, United are understood to hold an interest in signing Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff. The youngster only made his debut for the Magpies during the midway stage of the previous campaign but United are understood to have been impressed with his application on the field. He is currently recovering from a knee problem.
