Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says that he does not feel any jealousy of his counterpart manual Pellegrini at Manchester City. The Dutchman spent more than £ 150 million on revamping the squad with players like Angel di Maria and Daley Blind. The signings, though, are yet to see consistency on the pitch. This has seen United still face a fight for the top four places. Compared with the huge amount of spending United have undergone this summer, City have been relatively inactive and have spent money only on key signings like Mangala.
City are regarded as one of the best teams in the country largely because they have two great players for every position. The question of jealousy was put forward to Van Gaal ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend, but the 62-year-old dismissed those claims by saying that he is very happy with the squad he has at his disposal. Van Gaal will be keen to get a win this weekend, as he will be aware that a loss will equal United’s worst start to the season for almost 25 years. Despite this, the Red Devils go into the match trailing City only by a few points.
“I am not jealous of the squad of Manchester City. I am proud of my players and that is the most important thing and when we play like a team then we have a big chance to win. We are waiting on that boost because that can give you more than only the result. We have played very well against West Brom and we played a draw against Chelsea, nobody expected that result but for me it was not enough and maybe the result against Manchester City shall give us that boost,” said Van Gaal. The champions appear to have lost their form after suffering two back-to-back defeats.
