NO JEALOUSY IN MANCHESTER

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says that he does not feel any jealousy of his counterpart manual Pellegrini at Manchester City. The Dutchman spent more than £ 150 million on revamping the squad with players like Angel di Maria and Daley Blind. The signings, though, are yet to see consistency on the pitch. This has seen United still face a fight for the top four places. Compared with the huge amount of spending United have undergone this summer, City have been relatively inactive and have spent money only on key signings like Mangala.

City are regarded as one of the best teams in the country largely because they have two great players for every position. The question of jealousy was put forward to Van Gaal ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend, but the 62-year-old dismissed those claims by saying that he is very happy with the squad he has at his disposal. Van Gaal will be keen to get a win this weekend, as he will be aware that a loss will equal United’s worst start to the season for almost 25 years. Despite this, the Red Devils go into the match trailing City only by a few points.

“I am not jealous of the squad of Manchester City. I am proud of my players and that is the most important thing and when we play like a team then we have a big chance to win. We are waiting on that boost because that can give you more than only the result. We have played very well against West Brom and we played a draw against Chelsea, nobody expected that result but for me it was not enough and maybe the result against Manchester City shall give us that boost,” said Van Gaal. The champions appear to have lost their form after suffering two back-to-back defeats.

Van Gaal confident United can perform wel

Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal says that he is now confident that the club can maintain the form shown in the rout of QPR throughout the campaign. United managed to the first victory under Van Gaal, and also for the season, after managing to put four past a disappointing QPR at Old Trafford. There were several positives from the encounter, which also saw a number of new signings make their debuts for the club. The 63-year-old has been raising a lot of eyebrows with his decision to stick with the 3-5-2 formation in the early part of the season.

However, injuries forced him to switch to playing with four defenders at the back and this immediately paid a lot of dividends because the players looked much more comfortable in the system. United players have used to playing with four at the back and the use of the unique three at the back formation was seen as one of the reasons for the trouble. Van Gaal was not entirely happy with the victory, as he felt that United can still improve on several fronts. The start to the season has been easy for the former Premier League winners, but the fixture list is set to get tough in the coming weeks with matches against the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea.

“When you have a result of 4-0 then you can be happy as a coach but you always have points you can improve. I am very happy because of the result and the way we have played. We were very dominant and scored goals and kept a clean sheet. In ball possession I think we have lost the ball too much previously. We were more direct and that I like. Also, we have created a lot of chances, although we didn’t score enough of them,” said Van Gaal.
